Orton to Kirkby Stephen - 13 miles

What a night: a soft bed, warm covers, actual pillows and a very deep sleep .. AAHH was fantastic. Even though I woke early there was no need to get up before 7.30am due to breakfast so I read, chilled and had a mini nap before getting out of bed. Breakfast was absolutely superb and even though the proprietor said they didn't do hot chocolate she went out of her way and did one for me anyway such a sweetheart. We set off just after 9am knowing it would be a leisurely walk with minimal incline. It was barely 18C with a bit of sunshine, gentle hills, a lot of styles and farmland as far as the eye could see. The Dales in the distance looked gorgeous and I can't wait to experience them from close up tomorrow. Our lunch break by a lovely bridge was long and enjoyable and I found it hard to carry on after my massive lunch. I don't want to carry more than I need and I don't believe in wastage soooo I'm planning to eat all my food minus the food bag . The remaining 4 miles were easy but my left knee decided to have a break which made this bit slightly more challenging. Getting into Kirkby Stephen was geeat, saying goodbye to The Amazing Trio was a bit sad but a proper group hug really helped.. As this section included a lot of villages and farmland I've decided to stay at campsites from now on. My campsite was lovely and funnily invaded by rabbits so utterly adorable. After a small walk around the area and chatting with some other trekkers I called it an early night and passed out withing seconds.

Traveling is my happy place—there's nothing quite like the thrill of being in the middle of nowhere with nothing but my backpack, the open trail, and my own thoughts. Give me 12 hours of hiking, a lot of water, a little food, and a whole lot of unknown, and I’m completely in my element. I’m proud to say I don’t exactly fit the mold—maybe I’m a little wild, definitely adventurous, possibly a bit of a lunatic, and 100% alive. I believe life is meant to be lived, not watched from the sidelines. So here I am, chasing joy, chasing trails, and occasionally chasing my own sanity.
Come along for the ride! Dive into my stories and see the world the way I do—one unforgettable adventure at a time.
