I never had Iceland on my 'To Do List' as it seemed very far away. I have no idea when I decided to go but when I did I knew I couldn't just visit. I had to go for at least 2 weeks so I could experience Iceland and breathe in the surroundings.

I was awake for close to 40 hours, but I managed a lazy morning, an 8h workday, a final check, and a quick(ish) trip to Iceland. It involved a car, a plane and 5 buses. I've been planning this trip for 8 months, bought some special camping equipment, due to the volcanic terrain, repacked my bag 8 times, and even created a Mini Guide. The one thing I haven't done properly was prepare for the trek physically; I did some short 7-day workout sessions but got bored and forgot about it quickly enough. Thinking about it I rarely do anything but decide on something and stubbornly follow through until I make it. Oh, OK, I should be good to go.

I'll be here for 18 days, 16 of which will be somewhere off the grid, wild and normal camping, and aiming to walk about 130 miles with about 17 kg on my back. The good news is that 1/3 of it is food and I can gradually consume it before I get to the tricky part, aka a very high mountain with still some snow at the top. Got my shades and suncream, so I call that ready.

The big plan is to walk the Hellismannaleið trail - 56km / 34.8m (from Rjúpnavellir), the Laugavegur trail - 56km / 34.8m (from Landmannalaugar), the Fimmvörðuháls trail - 25km / 15.5m (from Porsmork), followed by some hitchhiking/bussing across to the other side of Iceland for a 'sort of' Snaefellsness trail. The last one doesn't really exist - I simply created it based on paths and previously walked trails. This should be another 70 miles. All this is weather dependent, of course, so praying was mandatory My chances were as follows:

Healthy eating - 6.1%

Comfort - 5.6%

Frostbite - 22.7%

Weight loss - 84.2%

Muscle gain - 91.4%

Physical challenge - 97.1%

Mental health - 99.97%

Survival - 56.8% ish :) just kidding ... It's closer to 62.7% ;)

Here we go again YEAY

Traveling is my happy place—there's nothing quite like the thrill of being in the middle of nowhere with nothing but my backpack, the open trail, and my own thoughts. Give me 12 hours of hiking, a lot of water, a little food, and a whole lot of unknown, and I’m completely in my element. I’m proud to say I don’t exactly fit the mold—maybe I’m a little wild, definitely adventurous, possibly a bit of a lunatic, and 100% alive. I believe life is meant to be lived, not watched from the sidelines. So here I am, chasing joy, chasing trails, and occasionally chasing my own sanity.
Come along for the ride! Dive into my stories and see the world the way I do—one unforgettable adventure at a time.
