Rhyd to Llyn Gwynant - 13.7 miles

I definitely chose a good campsite; I could hear the wind howling all night but my tent barely moved an inch. The stargazing portion of my activity was cancelled due to a lack of stars 😁 verified at 1 am, 3 am, and 5 am. I set off early and was again rewarded with great weather and stunning views ... not to mention great photo opportunities. Leaving Rhyd behind presented some lovely scenery but descending into Croesor was a stunner of a view. Luckily the local cows were very accommodating when it came to pictures; they posed with grace and utter professionalism, very impressive. A bit later on I had a lovely surprise with two fighter jets that kept flying low just a spit away from me 😊 ISH; on the 3rd pass by I even managed a picture .... zooming is definitely required for that picture. Walking next to the river by Aberglaslyn Pass was an amazing surprise and I had a very nice break with my feet cooling and just listening to the sound of the river rushing past. My next stop, Bedgellert, took me by surprise; a very quaint little village where you expect fairies to pop out any minute. It was a bit busy, but a few pubs and shops were still closed; a local told me that less than 3 weeks ago it was completely flooded. The locals have done a brilliant job cleaning it all up as it was one of the most charming and clean places I've ever been to. Would love to come back to sit in a cafe and just stare at the world go by. Walking towards Llyn Dinas was very tranquil but walking towards Llyn Gwynant, with rocky climbs and ascents, got my heart pumping and my muscles quivering. Knowing that the end was nearby was bliss but knowing a freezing swim will follow was exhilarating. The hot shower however was something I dare not talk about 🤣; one of the most memorable and happy 30 minutes of my life, it was simply indescribable 😁. At the campsite I had 5 people comment on the size of my tent, one even took a freaking selfie 😊; I guess compared to the other tents mine looked like a doormat. What a fantastic day.

Traveling is my happy place—there's nothing quite like the thrill of being in the middle of nowhere with nothing but my backpack, the open trail, and my own thoughts. Give me 12 hours of hiking, a lot of water, a little food, and a whole lot of unknown, and I’m completely in my element. I’m proud to say I don’t exactly fit the mold—maybe I’m a little wild, definitely adventurous, possibly a bit of a lunatic, and 100% alive. I believe life is meant to be lived, not watched from the sidelines. So here I am, chasing joy, chasing trails, and occasionally chasing my own sanity.
Come along for the ride! Dive into my stories and see the world the way I do—one unforgettable adventure at a time.
