Dolwyddelan to Llyn Ogwen - 12 miles
I woke several times thinking it was chucking it down ... it took me a few seconds every time to remember I was sleeping next to a river. I woke to darkness just before 6 am and left while it was barely light hoping to catch the sunrise once I left the forest .... no such luck but the views were spectacular, nonetheless. It was a very easy and straightforward day, with great paths/ roads, heading mainly, and slowly, downhill and just enjoying the scenery while taking pictures like my life depended on it. At one point a very kind fighter jet and small plane passed me low enough for me to see the colour of their wings .... blue and white if you need to know 😁 purely by luck I managed to film a whole second of it. As the route was quite short, 7.7 miles I decided to do a day trip to one of the reservoirs. Unfortunately, the campsite reception wasn't open when I arrived at 1 pm so I had to lug my backpack all the way to the top .... a very steep top I may add. To be honest, the weight of my bag has become almost an extension and I didn't mind having all my gear for my next hat trick, aka, swimming in freezing water. What a view, what a place, what silence .... what.....just everything. I stayed for 3 hours drying and sunbathing as the day's entertainment didn't include any clouds but only sunshine. On my return, I was ready for a nice hot shower but that wasn't meant to be .... the owners for some reason didn't bother answering anyone’s calls and left a note on the door to set up the tent. I think they sort of forgot that tokens were needed for said showers so quite a few people, me included, were left disappointed. Luckily, I had my dip so I wasn't that grimy 😁 and there was a sink in the bathroom ... with more freezing water 🤣. At least the charging station was working and it gave me enough power for the next 2 days. After a bit of reconnaissance, I retired early reading another good book, feeling full of life and energy.
