Proba do Brollon to Vilarino - 20.5 miles

It was another long but also a bit more challenging day. Several paths were either flooded or simply non-existent, it would have been more accurate to call one a stream than a path. My gaiters got a serious workout and luckily my boots stayed dry all day. One path was simply impassable and the alternative route added a full hour to my journey but it got me talking to a lovely local, definitely worth it. The only scary part of my day today was passing 2 very scary, loud and angry-looking dogs. I am not sure what would have happened if they had managed to jump through the fence but I didn't want to find out and walked on pretty fast with my head down. Even though the path ahead was also impassable I chose to climb through thorny bushes, and try to bring back 'the zebra' look, then walk past the dogs again. Definitely a scary moment there. Funnily once I managed to get into a small village the tiniest Chihuahua managed to sort of 'lick/bite' my ankle which I simply ignored. As you can imagine my next stop included a good use of my well-stocked first aid kit. The weather luckily was a bit cooler today, which I really appreciated, after the sweaty day I had before. Even though I walked over 20 miles I didn't feel tired but my feet were singing a slightly higher pitch by the end of the day. My accommodation and dinner were just out of this world and the hosts were simply amazing. I went to bed with my feet elevated and a huge smile on my face.

Traveling is my happy place—there's nothing quite like the thrill of being in the middle of nowhere with nothing but my backpack, the open trail, and my own thoughts. Give me 12 hours of hiking, a lot of water, a little food, and a whole lot of unknown, and I’m completely in my element. I’m proud to say I don’t exactly fit the mold—maybe I’m a little wild, definitely adventurous, possibly a bit of a lunatic, and 100% alive. I believe life is meant to be lived, not watched from the sidelines. So here I am, chasing joy, chasing trails, and occasionally chasing my own sanity.
Come along for the ride! Dive into my stories and see the world the way I do—one unforgettable adventure at a time.
