Dolgellau to Transwfynydd - 18.8 miles

Wild camping is great fun but it also makes you a bit paranoid when you are alone. The wind was doing a full-on opera while the wildlife followed a lovely line-dancing routine all night, I didn't feel alone that's for sure 😉 and didn’t manage to sleep a lot either. I left early to get into Dolgellau at a reasonable time and have a full Welsh breakfast; it was fantastic. Not ordering the whole menu after that was proof of my awesome willpower 😊. As I've already been to the area I wasn’t expecting surprises. What an idiot 😊. The first section was on the other side of the valley and quite a bit up, and up, and up …. you get my meaning. The view with the fog moving like a snake, however, was spectacular. Obviously, this meant another breakfast 😃and another AAHH moment. Once I descended into the valley and crossed the river the path became a bit boring with an actual ‘path’ to walk on. It was a total heaven for mountain bikers but a bit painful for me; it was uphill for a full 3 hours; definitely ouch. Once I left the track and got closer to Trawsfynydd the scenery changed again and even the sun made an appearance. Crossing the super-long footbridge was a must and as always great fun. Arriving at my campsite and watching the night falling was bliss, having a warm shower however was a religious experience. I might even sleep in tomorrow, HMMM, 6am start is a real possibility 😂

Traveling is my happy place—there's nothing quite like the thrill of being in the middle of nowhere with nothing but my backpack, the open trail, and my own thoughts. Give me 12 hours of hiking, a lot of water, a little food, and a whole lot of unknown, and I’m completely in my element. I’m proud to say I don’t exactly fit the mold—maybe I’m a little wild, definitely adventurous, possibly a bit of a lunatic, and 100% alive. I believe life is meant to be lived, not watched from the sidelines. So here I am, chasing joy, chasing trails, and occasionally chasing my own sanity.
Come along for the ride! Dive into my stories and see the world the way I do—one unforgettable adventure at a time.
