Transwfynydd to Rhyd - 11.8 miles

I woke just before 6 am to darkness. Opening my tent however was an experience: I watched dawn turn into sunrise for two full hours, WOW, no words are needed. After packing and trying to dry my socks by swinging them like a lasso 😁 I set off to unknown territory. I had my second breakfast after only an hour of walking, at Trawsfynydd dam, just breathing and smiling at the view. The next section involved some marsh walking, where my walking poles got a proper workout and at one point even sank all the way to the hilt. My knees got a very sexy ā€˜Swiss cheese’ like makeover from the local plants and my boots proved their worth from the numerous rock hopping and stream crossings. Strolling through the forest for a few hours was followed by some stunning lake walking where my feet had a very refreshing dunking. I also managed to acquaint myself with the local wildlife and had an entertaining nibble fight (that I lost) with some friendly fish. The sun was very gracious today and my hat became my constant companion. As lunchtime was approaching and I was near Penrhyndeudraeth (don't ask me to pronounce it please) I decided to have a luxurious lunch. The plan was great but not finding a restaurant wasn’t ā˜¹ā€¦. until I tripped over a Vegan restaurant. I’m not choosy and can eat anything but especially on my travels, I honestly don’t care what I eat in shape, size, or colour. My GOD this place was amazing: my smoothie tasted like ambrosia and my chicken-less/ lamb-less / beef-less risotto thingies were out of this world delicious. I didn't push myself today as I wasn't planning to do a long trek, finding the perfect hideaway, aka wild camping spot, took me a while but OMG was the search worth it! My camping spot was perfect: on the side of a hill overlooking Snowdonia on one side and the sunset on the other. The stargazing part of this event was something that poems are written about. Utter silence with only the sky, a few billion stars, (a few thousand sheep), and myself for company. All in all, a memorable and stunning day.

Traveling is my happy place—there's nothing quite like the thrill of being in the middle of nowhere with nothing but my backpack, the open trail, and my own thoughts. Give me 12 hours of hiking, a lot of water, a little food, and a whole lot of unknown, and I’m completely in my element. I’m proud to say I don’t exactly fit the mold—maybe I’m a little wild, definitely adventurous, possibly a bit of a lunatic, and 100% alive. I believe life is meant to be lived, not watched from the sidelines. So here I am, chasing joy, chasing trails, and occasionally chasing my own sanity.
Come along for the ride! Dive into my stories and see the world the way I do—one unforgettable adventure at a time.
